Good question. Environmentalists are human beings like us. Infact, we too become environmentalists when we show care and concern for the environment. Therefore, all schemes….big and small…that can make a difference towards saving, preserving and conserving mother nature, will help in the cause. A small step like switching off the fan when not required is also a 'scheme' by itself.

It is caused mainly due to the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases which trap the heat inside the earths atmosphere and dont allow it to escape.
During the 20th century the average temperature of the earth increased by just abt 1 degree celsius. In the coming century scientists predict that average temperature may rise by anywhere from 1 to 6 degrees celsius.

So i guess in a way there is an increase of global warming, but it is a very slow process and should take a lot of years for any effect to be really seen by general people like us.

That's a very important question that you have asked. It is always important to understand the real life implications that our actions have on the environment and how our actions help the environment.

Energy conservation essentially can be possible by either improving productivity so that the same amount of energy can be used for a wider set of purposes.
Recently houses in UK are being given home energy monitors, and found that this resulted in 20% decrease in their energy consumption.
It can also be possible by using renewable sources of energy such as solar energy instead of non-renewable sources such as coal.

We all know pretty much what global warming is i think, so i would like to start this thread to discuss how it will affect our lives and what we can do to help reduce its effects.
I would like all of you to come up with suggestions on what exactly needs to be done and how you think it will help fight global warming (let your imagination run wild).

First of all let me introduce myself to everyone here. I'm Praveen, currently studying MBA at IMT Ghaziabad. I will be moderating this forum on Environment and Eco-Conservation.

So, lets get started.. Initially i would like all of you to introduce yourselves and along with that, give us one little piece of information about earth's environment, feel free to write about anything you would like to share.

My information is that -earth's crust is made up of lots of different pieces called 'tectonic plates' constantly moving about.
